New York’s famous Lady Liberty celebrates her 130th birthday with a unique webcam capture of her last 365 days.
Through sunrises and sunsets, rain, fog and snow, the mighty Statue of Liberty stands on Ellis Island holding her beacon of hope aloft.
For the Statue’s 125th birthday in 2011, EarthCam worked in partnership with the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation as well as the National Park Service to install multiple webcams on and looking at Lady Liberty. Since then, millions of viewers regularly watch the popular cameras such as the CrownCam, which provides a “selfie” from the torch, an area closed to the public since 1916. Additional views include live streaming video of the New York Harbor and city skyline and real-time views of the Statue of Liberty from a webcam in Brooklyn. This limelapse celebrates her 130th birthday.
