From the people behind popular cocktail bar The Lobo Plantation comes a new venue in the heart of Sydney’s financial district.
Tucked away at the top of Phillip Lane in Sydney’s financial district comes Kittyhawk, a new bar with a focus on rum and rye whisky in the old Bull and Bear space.
Inspired by Paris as World War II was ending, co-owners Jared Merlino, Michael Hwang and Eddie Levy have joined with design agency AZBcreative to create a 175 capacity cocktail bar and back bar with the room to hold over 900 spirits.
Kittyhawk opens with bespoke cocktails like the Rum and Rye and the Memphis Belle, combining sophisticated ingredients and rare spirits, as well as an extensive wine list with over 80 handpicked wine and Champagne selections. The food menu takes its cues from Parisian street food, with new twists on the classics.
The atmosphere created by the design aesthetic is described as “sophisticated and a little masculine,” with lots of bespoke detailing and curated layering, centered round a 12-metre long, hand crafted American Oak bar. Vintage frames, original 1940’s posters, real WWII
paraphernalia and curios, antique tiles, leather banquettes and converted antique doors complete an inviting and detailed new venue for after-workies.
