Melbourne scores the role of host city for the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards in 2017.
Australia’s cosmopolitan Southern capital will become only the second city outside of London to host the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards when it hosts the world’s most reputable restaurant rankings in 2017.
A full program of culinary events will be created by Tourism Australia and Visit Victoria in partnership with the World’s 50 Best team to showcase Melbourne’s culinary and events expertise as well as the diversity of food and wine settings and experiences in regional Victoria.
Melbourne’s Attica (above) is Australia’s only top 50 restaurant on the list, and Brae, located two and half hour’s drive from Melbourne, has moved up from number 87 to number 65 in the top 100.
The announcement was made ahead of tomorrow’s 2016 edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards, held in New York.
