Arguably Masterchef’s busiest judge, George Calombaris opens yet another Melbourne eatery in between takes.
Apart from going around again in the sixth season of Masterchef Australia, original judge George Calombaris has also recently expanded his influence in his hometown of Melbourne with the opening of Jimmy Grants in David St, Fitzroy.
A souvlaki shop with a difference, forget badly packed late-night kebabs with the lot – Jimmy Grants is part-bar, part-diner and part takeaway, offering slow-roasted lamb from the shoulder and chicken from the spit alongside big, fresh salads such as Hellenic Slaw or Cyrpriot Grain Salad, which George has kindly provided the recipe here for Men’s Style readers to recreate at home.
Jimmy Grants? Rhyming slang for “immigrants”, a theme reflected in the attire of the waiters and the murals on the wall of this homely, heartfelt addition to Melbourne’s dynamic fancified street food scene.
