Winter is coming and it’s going to be hairy thanks to this new challenge…
Can you grow a beard? Wanna save the world?
Now you can do both with the 90-day BeardsOn challenge.
Established in 2014, BeardsOn is a not-for-profit environmental organisation that’s aiming to plant one million native trees to help combat climate change.
“We’re calling on all men to grow beards of any shape or length, get friends, family and loved ones to sponsor them and with the donations we’ll plant trees,” says co-founder Jimmy Stanton-Cooke. “It’s that simple. It’s something so organic and effortless, and by doing so you give back to your planet and everything on it.”
Every $2 donated will see a native tree planted in an Australian community.
And, if Stanton-Cooke has his way, they’ll have a high-profile champion in NSW Premier Mike Baird, with BeardsOn challenging the smooth-faced pollie to join in the furry fun.
“We think Mr Baird should be much more responsible and protect the last remaining green spaces,” says Stanton-Cooke. “Can he grow a beard? Can he give back? We think he should.”
The BeardsOn Challenge runs from June 1 to August 31.
